Q: Prevacid?!?!!?
I've just gotten a script for Prevacid. It's the solutab variety that dissolves on your tongue. The only time i can take it on an empty stomach is in the morning, but i have to take other meds at that time, too? How long after it dissolves, can i take a sip of water to down my other meds?
A: First thing in am, before bathroom, take prevacid....then refresh self, washface , etc. start breakfast, when everything ready take AM meds... manage time all else will fall into place....be safe
Q: prevacid???
im suppose to take my prevacid and then wait an hour in the morning but i dont have time so i just eat and then eat breakfast and then suffer heartburn all day for not waiting. Can't i just take it before i go to bed so i dont have to wait an hour in the morning after taking it?
A: Talk to a doctor about prilosec. I started taking it twice a day then after a week or so I took 1 a day and I haven't had heartburn since. Be aware though if your heartburn is that bad you'll more than likely have to take pills for the rest of your life. It sucks when you skip or miss a couple days
Q: What makes Prevacid different than other antacid tablets such as alka-seltzer?
I was just wondering why I should buy prevacid. What makes it stand out? what is an added feature that makes prevacid better than something like alka-seltzer or rolaids?
A: If alka--seltzer works for you, then Prevacid is not better for you. Every body is different. Right now they're saying that Pepsid Complete is the best, but that does not mean it's the best for you. This is the perfect time for you to remember to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Remember that for life!
I like Tums myself! :)
Q: What if you forget to take Prevacid 30 minutes before a meal, can you take it during or after ?
I just ate something and I forgot to take prevacid? Should I wait a couple of hours or just go ahead and take it as soon as possible?
A: Go ahead and take the medication. Don't take more than the recommended dose because the medication could cause other health problems. The reason they want you to take it first because the medicine has to be digested before it can start to work. By the time you are finished eating the medicine will be in your blood stream doing its thing. Just a note-some people are required to take it before bed due to acid reflux disease.
Q: Does anyone have a baby on prevacid for relux and it causes restless sleep?
My 7 month old baby has been on prevacid for 6 weeks when his zantax no longer was helping. Since then he wakes up 3-4 times a night and is very restless. I am trying to figure out if the prevacid is causing this.
A: Doctors usually error on the conservative side with dosages, and babies grow so quickly that the dosage is often not enough to eliminate the reflux.
And, could he be teething? That--the increased saliva--often increases reflux.
Q: how long does it take for prevacid to start working in an infant with reflux?
my son is 6 weeks old and has acid reflux. we just switched him from zantac to prevacid, just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to start releiving pain.
A: that is exactly what we did. I noticed a difference within a few days. You will be able to tell when he is ready for his next dose, also. My son was on Prevacid for about 8 months. I hate those melty-tab things. I found they always stuck in the inside of the syringe. Ask your dr if they have the special one that the prevacid drug rep sometimes bring to the office. It works way better than the one we got at the pharmacy! Don't worry- it does get better!
Q: Can Prevacid be harmful to your digestive system?
I take prevacid on a daily basis and I have esophagus problems still. I also have a sore on my mouth that indicates Candida. I am sitting here wandering if I have Candida Esophigitis. Or is Prevacid stopping the acids in my stomach and creating upper digestive problems? I also have A bloating abdomen and bowel problems that tend to be loose and then hard. What is up with that?
A: One of the side effects of Prevacid are diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal pain Continue to take Prevacid (I give only information, only a doctor can say if you must stop or not.) Go and talk to your doctor
Q: How often should someone take Prevacid for heartburn? I have taken it about 2 years ago for 3 months.?
Now the symptoms are back, should i go back to my doctor to request more or try something else? I wake up in the middle of the night coughing and feel the sizzle in my throat from the acid. I take Zantac and Tums, which don't help much anymore. Can you buy prevacid online without a prescription?
A: Try some home remedies: ie' baking soda 1 T. w/water and drink. Or try 1tsp. of vinegar if u can tolerate it.
Prevacid online, hmmmm usually u can get anything online, but that one is not usually an 'active' one online.
But do something, cuz heartburn can deteriorate your esophagus lining so bad, you may end up like me with Barretts Disease...which means the lining of my esoph is destroyed, and now I have dysplasia, (pre-cancerous) cells. I am having a type of surgery done in April where they will be going down my esoph. & burning off the 'bad' cells in hopes it will get rid of my pre cancerous cells...This is what my Dad died of.
Have you ever tried Nexium or Aciphex? good stuff.
Plz. be careful and don't take heartburn as "just a nuisance". It is serious stuff.
good luck
Q: Anyone have success stories with zantac or prevacid for their baby?
My baby is 4 months old and has been diagnosed with acid reflux she is always spitting up and is very uncomfortable. Does anyone have good or bad experience with zantac or prevacid? I am a little leery to giver her medication everyday, but she she just seems so uncomfortable.
A: Prevacid was a Godsend for us. We tried the Zantac and it "teased" us for a couple of days while her screaming would subside....but then it would come back.
Three days on Prevacid and she was a different baby. She became so happy.
I was freaked out to about medication but the phramacist at our Target has a reflux baby and has her on Prevacid so I decided it must be okay.
Q: My 6 week old has acid reflux problem and has been put on prevacid started giving it yesterday?
she was on axid for a week but that didnt work so her ped put her on prevacid.
has anyone experienced this with their baby and how long it takes for the prevacid effect to show up. has ur baby grown out of the problem. please share.
A: Usually they will grow out of the problem after a while. The medicine should heal it up, but later in life they could possibly gain acid reflux again. i had it as a child and didn't have problems with it untill recently but i was on zantac 75 and its prob the best I've ever been on.
Q: Anyone else have bad luck when switching from Prevacid oral suspension to Prevacid solutab for infant reflux?
Hi - For the last 3 months we had been using Prevacid Oral Suspension to help with our 6-month old daughter's reflux but the company recently stopped making the suspension and now only offers a "solutab". We are finding that the solutab does not control her reflux nearly as well as the suspension did. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you switch to a different medication? Thanks.
A: I don't speak from personal experience but I have had a lot of patients on it. Often times the solutab is not even a close second to helping out. You can talk to your doctor about using liquid Zantac which may help out.
Good luck
Q: Does anyone know if it is safe to take Prevacid or Pepcid AC while breastfeeding?
I have horrible reflux and the only that has ever worked for me was Prevacid. I can't find anything on the internet that tells me that it is safe to take while breastfeeding.
A: Prevacid is dangerous to an unborn baby and it is currently not known if it passes into the mother's breastmilk. Therefore, you should NOT take this medication and breastfeed before mentioning it to your doctor. Most likely he/she will agree that you should not take it. Usually if a medication is unknown to be dangerous, then it is only used as a last option. If pepcid works for you, then go with that or tums instead.
(I see this posting is getting "thumbs down" comments. Please do not give this asker a false impression about the safety of Prevacid if you do not know. Prevacid has not been determined safe and should NOT be taken when breastfeeding before consulting with a physician first)
Q: What can I take over the counter that is closest to Prevacid?
I've just lost my health coverage and can't get the meds anymore. Please help, without the pills my reflux is BAD. I only have one pill left.
A: The only over the counter PPI (proton pump inhibitor) that I know of is Prilosec (omeprazole) . It works like prevacid (lansoprazole) by blocking the pumps in the stomach that lead to the production of acid.
Q: What are the side-effects of Prevacid and Mylanta on infants ?
My 3 month old takes mylanta and prevacid per day to control his acid reflux. Has anyone experienced / known of side-effects with either mylanta or prevacid in infants ?
A: Both of my kids had diagnosed grade 4 reflux, and we gave each of them Prevacid once a day until they were about 9 months old.
We never noticed any side effects from the Prevacid.
My older daughter also took Reglan for a few weeks. It didn't seem to help, and it can have some pretty nasty side effects, so we took her off it.
Our pediatrician said that Prevacid has so few side effects that it's sometimes prescribed even to kids who haven't had a full GI study done. It might help, and it won't hurt.
Good luck.
Q: What Are The Side Effects Of Prevacid?
It's a pink and green pill that my Doc. says I have to take. I've been sick every day for twenty days with acid reflux. My doctor says that if I don't take it, I could risk cancer. So what are the side effects of the pill Prevacid?
A: Constipation or diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
