TAKING ON MY OWN, Salmon/fish oils 1000mg/daily
Amount of prescriptions has me a little bit concerned about possible harmful interaction.
A: Your doctor should have already used this tool, if you were honest with him/her about your "self-medication", but if that is not the case, here's where you can check:
Q: 6+ weeks of diarrhea and vomiting?
My 14 year old daughter has been suffering with diarrhea, vomiting and gas for over 6 weeks and I have taken her to two doctors and a gastro specialist. Still have no idea what it is. the specialist has given her pariet and motilium and still the symptoms persist. Due back to specialist in two weeks.
A: She may have some sort of intestinal/stomach infection. Normally I would say food poisoning, but 6 weeks is way too long for that.
I can't believe you have to wait two more weeks, it sounds terrible. I really hope she gets better soon!
Q: can you get anxiety from gerd?
i have gord/gerd .....sudenly i have dizzyness.heartbun.some times not very hungry..chest pain...funnythrot...and short of breath.......I have 2 doctors and both have sent me for ecg/s and bloods and came back fine......i was taking pariet for 6 week..but now i am on somac for 4 days ........
buy the way ...i am from from australia the meds are different
A: It all sounds consistent with bad reflux disease. You need to be on a proton pump inhibitor (Nexium, Prilosec, Pravacid, Protonix, Aciphex) for a good month to see how you do. I don't know the two meds you mention. Are you outside the USA?
Q: does anyone else suffr from functional dyspepsia?
and what is there to help relieve the pain?besides gravol? i am currently on pariet and is not working well. i have been on nexium didnt work and cimitidine and it didnt work very well, suggestions?????
desperatly need help with this please
A: Sure they do but fortunalty I do not.
Q: 6month cough?
I've had a cough now for about 6 months. I feel fine with it. I exercise with it, but it wont go away. My Doctor has said he thinks it's reflux, but the pills (pariet) don't seem to be doing much. When he tells me that I've got it and asks do I smoke (no), drink (no) do I eat fatty foods? (no) he doesn't seem concerned that I'm not a prime candidate for this. I exercise a lot and can exercise fine, no problems. After the session if it's been long or hard I will cough a bit for the next 10-60mins. It's just starting to annoy me and I'm not convinced the doctor is on the right path??
A: Common causes of chronic cough include,
1. Acid reflux - the acid gets up to the larynx and irritates it leading the chronic cough
2. Asthma - sometimes presents as dry cough rather than frank wheezing
3. Allergies - post nasal drip at night drips on the larynx and irritates it
4. Medication - especially ACE inhibitors (a type of blood pressure medicine).
5. Smoking - of course, not an issue with you.
Some say that acid reflux medicines need to be taken for 8 weeks straight before deciding that acid reflux isn't the cause of the cough.
Some say that chronic cough that lasts 6 months deserves a referral to an ENT or a pulmonologist for a second opinion. It's something you may want to broach with your doctor.
Good luck!
Q: Gastritis- Please please help!!?
Hi I have posted a simular kind of question on here before and had some really useful answers so I am helping someone can help again!! I have had gastritis for 4 months!!! Now and NOTHING seems to work. I have changed my diet cut out alcohol and been given 2 different types of medicine by the doctor. He has now given me Pariet in 20mg and my stomach seems to hurt more than ever. Also I have notice I have a yellow tongue which of course relate to my stomach. I am desperate for any advice whether it foods to avoid or advice on the medication. Is it possible the tablets could be making it worse?? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!!! !
A: i suffer with this alot and found that fatty foods dont help you can still eat them but where u can grill it not fry, gravey and chrisps always made mine worse avoid drinks like coke etc as they are gasey and citric drinks like pure orange or even eating oranges i found that apple juice always helped me hope this helps
Q: GERD med alternative?
I've been diagnosed by my Dr and the result is GERD. I also have hiatal hernia. She gave me Pariet, Mucosta and Motilium.. i took those meds it gives me relief but it doesnt get me well. I tried Omepron, still the same thing happen. It gives relief for a short time. Can u help me what tablet is effective for treating GERD? I avoid all those foods that triggered the situation. It is really a hassle in my part that i suffer flatulence. It affects my breathing. I cant breath good because my tummy is always full. Then i can experience indigestion everyday. And for hiatal hernia.. can it be treated with medicine? Help me pls. Whats the best medicine to treat GERD?
A: For me Protonix works very well. I have tried several other meds for GERD and ended up with a lots of weird side effects. Try to find the minimum effective dose of your med. Good luck.
Q: gallbladder?
ok, I think I am having probs with gallbladder, as the doctors think this also, at first they thought it was heartburn and I was put on Zantac and Pariet, no help. 2 things here, 1 sometimes when I eat I get the typical gallbladder attacks, and other times I can eat the same thing and not get it, why? 2 weird thing happen the other day, I was at a meeting and went outside during the break to have a smoke and it was cold out and I was shaking from the cold, weird part was I am sure I felt my gallbladder shake along with my body, was totally weird, is this normal, as I have never felt this before. and wait there's a third, does gas have a lot to do with gallbladder, whenever i get the pain, I get gassy, yet I feel constipated and feel like i can't let the gass oout although I can and I do. Ty
A: ask these questions to your doctor
Q: GERD and Ulcer?
I'm really anxious with what is happening to me right now. I have reflux mostly in the night and everytime i eat especially in the morning, i feel like to throw up several times. I also feel quesy and dizzy every now and then. I'm taking nexium for a couple of weeks but my GE changed it to Pariet because i complained about the headaches. I'm also having a chest pain but only mild, Dr's said that it is also from acid reflux. I would like to know why i am nauseous everytime i eat. I eat smaller portions in a day.
A: I hope this helps. A lot of problems come from how/what we eat and combine our foods together. Let me explain.
It was the first time I cooked dinner for my then-boyfriend. I didn’t know it back then, but my own cure began with a question from this man who would later become my husband(Mike)
Shortly after we met, I made dinner for him and he asked if it would be alright if he didn't eat one of the foods I had prepared. He said it all looked wonderful, but that the combination would give him a stomach ache. I didn't know what he meant, since nothing was fried and no hot spices were used.
It was then that he asked me the question that literally changed my life forever!
Mike asked me, “Have you heard of food combining?”
My immediate answer was "no" I hadn't heard of it. Even though it wasn't anything new, and had been endorsed by many health experts, peak performance experts and celebrities and more - I really had never heard of FOOD COMBINING.
After hearing about how "mis-combining" leads to acidosis, acid-reflux, heartburn and a host of other digestive problems, I had my first "properly combined" meal...
And I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO SYMPTOMS WHATSOEVER!
NO PAIN! NOTHING!
That’s right...
NO cramps
NO bloated stomach
NO excessive gas
NO ‘IBS’
NO acid reflux
NO constipation
NO running to the bathroom
NO horrendous pain
Can you imagine how relieved I felt after all those years? If you have ever suffered any of these symptoms, even mildly, you will understand why I was wild with joy!

Q: This is long, plz sum1 giv me ur thoughts. Young mum scared for her life :(?
i had a baby 6 minths ago. I hard a tough 3rd trimester so once he was born i wasnt well. i didnt eat properly or sleep properly. Now for the past 4 months ive felt really sick, at the start it wasnt to bad but now my whole body aches. I have anxiety now cos my doctors dont help me so i try and self diagnose and it just makes things worse.
Ive had lots of blood tests, full blood counts, thryroid check, liver and kidney fuction and everything is normal besides having a little low vitamin d which i had since the pregnancy. But im taking ostelin and the level is going back up now. Ive had a chest xray, 5ecgs, ct scan on my urinary tract, urinalysis, upper abdominal scan, pelvic ultrasound, pap smear and pelvic exam, so yes lots of tests, some in hospitala nd some reffered by my gp.
Since i had my pap smear ive had blood in my urine on and off, no infection can be found, i had a ct scan and no masses are seen or obstruction of my oragns. They think it may be from alot of exercise, bladder inflammation ( i dnt go as soona s i get theh urge) or because i was taking ibprofen for 2 months.
All my muscles aches, ive lost weight cos i only have an appetite at night time, i get mild headaches, my ribs feel tender at times and i get pains in my stoamch which i take pariet and tums for, i also have swollen glands in the back of my neck, i can also feel balls deep in my armpits ( seen 3 docs and they say its cos im skinny)
I had a blood test to see if id ever had glandular fever (mono) and i have, although i dont have it now.
Could this all be dragging on symptoms?? Im worried sick all the time, im scared im dying, i know thats my anxiety but how can i stay calm when ihave all these things wrong with me. Even today i noticed another ball down my neck but more closer to the shoulder, it moves around like a cyst that i have behind my ear..
Doctors are getting sick of me, i just want answers.
If i had a dealdy disease like lymphoma or something, would one of the scans or blood tests seen this or gave the doctors some sort of indication.
Im so scared, im only 18. I dont want my baby to grow up without a mum and plain and simple im not ready to die.
So anyone gotten sick after having there baby, and anyone with mono, how long did ur glands stay swollen for.
My guess, I caught it back in septemebr or it could have been earlier and the symptoms look longer to show.
A: That was lengthy and many spelling & gramatical errors made that quite difficult to sit through & read.
At first I thought, it could be anxiety attacks.
Has your blood pressure been checked?
If the DRs say you are OK then you might be OK.
Q: Debilitating bouts of nausea/vomiting?
I have a condition know as GastroParesis, (my GI tract is partially paralysed), that causes me to have these bouts. I take 4 different meds for my stomach issues, but still get so bad sometimes I end up in the ER at my local hospital. I am on Maxeran, Ondansetron, and Gravol daily for nausea/vomiting, Pariet for acid, and Domperidone for motility.
Can anyone in this channel recommend anything, prescription or otherwise, that may have worked for them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers and Happy Holidays
Thanks b_bardi99! That's awesome, I have bookmarked the site, thanks again!
A: Please check out this website:www.g-pact.org
its for people like you,who suffer from gastroparesis and need advice or support from others.
there is surgery available, but talk to other patients about it.
You are not alone, its a good idea to have a support group.
Q: pain up under right rib?
Ive been having stoamch problems due to stress. For one week now ive had pain where my ribs meet and it drifts off to the right side under my rib cage. If i push there it kind of releives the pain. I dont have it all the time but it does come everyday, it gets worse at night.
My gallbladder was checked about 2 months ago and nothing was wrong. I also burp alot and i have back pain. I had a baby 6 months ago so could the back pain cause other pain??
I take tums an dit just makes me burp and take sthe edge of the pain, ima lso taking pariet to releive my stoamch pain which is helping but doesnt take this pain away from under my rib.
Ive seen my doctor twice, tahts why i was put on pariet. No im not pregnant.
A: Is your doctor like a family doctor? Sometimes, after you've seen them several times with no improvements, they finally send you to a specialist. You should see a GI doctor, a gastroenterologist.
Also, make sure you eat right, like no junk food or fast food (I can't digest those myself) and if you have stress, try relaxing through meditation.
Q: esophageal sphincter?
I have unusual noises in my throat and upper abdomen. Seems like the noise of the lid shutting on a rubbish bin. Its when I swallow(throat sound) and also when I cough(upper ab) I am due to have a barium swallow xray then possibly the endoscopy but I am so frightened of what they might find. I am not losing weight and I dont really have anything that sticks but sometimes get a bit of chest pain and heart burn during the night and sometimes during the day. I am taking pariet and previously nexium as I also have bronchiectasis. I rasied my bed and also eat small meals and chew slowly so is there something serious going on?
A: finish taking the medical tests. Kinda sounds like gastro-esophageal reflux (GERDS). POssibly a hiatal hernia. Talk to your doctor about an EGD and get a professional opinion.
