Q: coumadin antagonist?
im having a very hard time with this question.. anyone who could help.. it would be verrrry appreciated! Dan is currently taking the drugs Mephyton, Biaxin, and Entex LA for his chronic celiac disease and acute sinusitis. He was just prescribed Coumadin for thrombosis, and it has no therapeutic effect. Dan’s doctor suspects it’s a case of drug antagonism. Which drug is Dan taking that is antagonistic with Coumadin?

A: I think Mephyton, Vitamin K? Sudden increases in Vitamin K may decrease effect of Coumadin. I think they are trying to do opposite things, the Mephyton to clot the blood and the Coumadin to thin it.

Q: Should I go to the hospital?
I've been sick for almost 5 days. I've had a really hard cough, sore throat, runny nose and shortness of breath. I went to see my doctor 2 days ago and he said "it's a virus". So i bought this over the counter decongestant that he suggested called ENTEX LA, which has worked for me in the past, as i have asthma and i can't take cough syrup or my throat will close up. Well it's been another two days and i feel like it's getting worse. My doc told me to use my puffers if i was feeling like i couldn't breathe and it gives some temporary relief, but it doesn't last for long. I've been up all night, it's now almost 8am and i've used my ventelin puffer three times since 1am and my steroid puffer once. I still feel short of breath and my ribs are aching from all the coughing, but i don't want to wait 5 and a half hrs at the hospital so some nurse can stick a ventelin mask on my face and i have to call in the doctor to turn it off, because no one will come to check on me. I hate hospitals!

A: yes, go the hospital, i have just come accross very similar with someone, and dr told them just a virus. When she got at the hospital, she had chronic infection of the airways, which would not of got better without the correct tablets, and she also was asthmatic, and used an inhaler. We were only at outpatients about 1 hour. Within 24 hrs she had an improvement, so good luck

Q: MIddle Ear Infection?
After 3 doctors, I was finally prescribed Antibiotics to treat my ears. At first I had Vertigo and took medication for it. Then when the Vertigo stopped, I had a sensation of pressure in my head and my neck was stiff. So I went back to a different doctor that told me I had fluid build up and gave me Nasonex. That didn't work so I went to another different doctor, told me the same thing and said for me to take Entex-LA. Then finally I had enough and went to a completely different clinic and the doctor finally prescribed me Antibiotics! I know I have to take the pills until they are all done, but how long does it usually take for the Antibiotics to work?

A: Antibiotics have to build up in your system in order for them to work. Taking them as scheduled will result in the taking full effect in about 2 days. They immediately start working on the infection, however full reaction occurs in 2-3 days. Take all of your antibiotics. You may start feeling better in 2-4 days but you muct take them all! If you continue to have trouble with your ears, see an ENT. You may need a tympanoplasty to allow fluid to properly drain. Hope this helps!
