Q: Do prolonged use of Proscar and Xatral could cause Osteoprosis in man?
A: **REVISED** I generally did not see that side effect listed in the web sites that I searched on those drugs. Lots of other side effects listed, though. However, one web site on a study did say that finasteride could possibly cause bone loss indirectly by its lowering the level of DHT. I should note that I am neither a doctor nor a pharmacist.

Hello it's a prescribed medicine that you receive only from your doctor. I would recommend you to consult a doctor, because he knows best and can give you the right treatment.
I'm not sure if it's called Xatral.xl I have found only Xatral, but to be sure ask your doctor. It's better to take it with medical attention, than on internet sites and by yourself.

Pharmacology of Xatral
adrenoceptors located in the prostate, bladder base, bladder neck, prostatic capsule, and prostatic urethra.
The clinical manifestations of benign prostatic hyperplasia are due to bladder outlet obstruction caused by anatomical (static) and functional (dynamic) factors. The static component is related to an increase in prostate size which may not cause symptoms. The dynamic component is related primarily to an increase in smooth muscle tone in the prostate, prostatic capsule, bladder base, bladder neck, and prostatic urethra. This increased tone is mediated by the activation of á1-adrenoceptors and leads to an increased resistance to urinary voiding and the symptoms of BPH such as a hesitant, interrupted, weak stream; urgency and leaking or dribbling; and/or more frequent urination, especially at night. XATRAL blocks á1-adrenoceptors leading to a relaxation of the smooth muscle in the bladder neck and prostate.
In animal studies, alfuzosin was shown to be functionally uroselective by preferentially decreasing urethral blood pressure over arterial blood pressure. In human tissue, in vitro, alfuzosin has induced preferential á1-adrenoceptor antagonist

Q: I am taking Baryta Carb200(1time) & Sabal Serr MT(2times) for my prostate. Is there any side effect for these?
For last six months, I am suffering from Prostate Gland problem. I am having pain in prostate gland, also pain in pelvic region. Urination is also painful. No infection has been detected from Urine Tests. I am taking Cefuroxime 250x2times for almost last 6-months, with bintermittent breaks of 1week after each 2week medicine. I am also taking Avodart(1 in mor) and Xatral (1 in night). Unfortunately there is no improvement at all.
I have now started taking homeopath medicine also parallely. I am taking Baryta Carb 200 once in morning and Sabal Serr MT 2-times day. I am very much scared whether this has any adverse side effects. CAN ANYONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER BARYTA CARB HAS ANY SIDE EFFECT ?
